Toby Young As One
Following their collaboration at the memorable High Sheriff’s Concert last summer, Exultate Singers, Bristol Youth Choir and the Renewal Choir join forces again to pay tribute to the power of music not only to transform lives, but also to bring communities together.
They will give the second performance of Toby Young’s As One, an exciting choral work celebrating the vibrant diversity of Bristol, commissioned for and first performed at the High Sheriff’s Concert in June 2019. Featuring settings of poems inspired by interviews with local residents, alongside stories from the city’s rich history, the piece explores some of the many seams that tie together Bristol’s diverse communities, as well as considering some of the challenges facing the city today, in order to celebrate the creative and independent spirit that makes the city unique. Bringing the three choirs together in song, As One displays a joyful fusion of musical styles, with influences ranging from epic oratorio to upbeat jazz and funk.
Tickets £5, with the option to buy a ticket for yourself or gift one to someone else, so that Charlie Wyld, the High Sheriff of Bristol, can invite a wider audience along to the concert than would normally be possible
