Exultate Singers return to the medieval church of St James Priory to perform a feast of beautiful Renaissance and Baroque choral music from Italy and Spain.

The concerts shows off the wonderful musical resources of these countries between the 16th and 18th centuries with Holy week motets for 3 separate choirs and Domenico Scarlatti’s virtuosic and dramatic setting of the Stabat Mater in 10 voice parts.

This contrasts with the intimate and reflective devotions that make up Victoria’s settings of words from the evening Tenebrae service. Sung by candlelight in small groups around the church these pieces, interspersed with beautiful cello solos, will make this an atmospheric and moving experience of wonderful passiontide music.

Central nave £18, South Aisle £13, North and South Walls £10 for adults
£8 students in full time education, £3 under 18
